Endocrine Disruptors
Level 3, 4 and 5 in vivo tests
According to the Regulations on Biocides, Plant Protection Products, Pharmaceuticals and Annex II to the modified Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, an active substance, a plant protection product or a synergist may be considered as disruptors of the endocrine system and cause adverse effects in humans or non-target organisms if they meet the criteria below:
- Exhibit an adverse effect on an intact organism or its offspring or non-target organisms, for example, changes in the morphology, physiology, growth, development, reproduction or or lifespan of an organism, a system or a (sub)population, resulting in the alteration of a functional capacity or an ability to compensate for an additional stress or increased susceptibility to other influences;
- Have an endocrine mode of action, i.e. change the functions of the endocrine system;
- The adverse effect is a consequence of the endocrine mode of action.
