The Staphyt Seeds team accompanies the breeders and seed companies in the evaluation and selection of varieties. Thanks to a network of tests, state-of-the-art equipment and qualified agronomists, Staphyt’s Seed Service is a European leader in varietal experimentation. The network of tests allows the acquisition of varietal references in all major areas of agricultural production, supported by a wide of soil types and climates.
Staphyt thus contributes to genetic progress, in favor of more sustainable varieties and cropping systems.

Agronomic value trials

Staphyt evaluates the agronomic value of its varieties in all European pedoclimatic conditions, on raw crops and in specialised crops.
Staphyt accompanies you in the screening of varieties or line crops for your breeding and post breeding studies as well as for your density testing.

Resistance tests to bioaggressors

Staphyt assists seedlings in the selection of bioaggressor-resistant varieties. Our platforms in different production areas (under natural and/or artificial contamination) allow us to assess resistance according to climate and terroir.
Various Crops/Pests are studied: [Sunflower //orobanche, phomopsis], [Corn // rhizoctonia], [Cereals // fusarium, rust], [Rapeseed // phoma (G2), hernia, orobanche, insects (beetle-jumper, CBT)]…

Abiotic stress assays

Staphyt develops assays under abiotic stress conditions to observe the diversity of varietal responses and identify those with the best performance.

Abiotic stresses are increasing (drought, nutrient deficiency (N), cold, etc.). Varietal selection allows the identification of sources of tolerance of plants to abiotic stresses. Thus, it is an important component of agriculture in the face of climate change.

A few examples:

Tolerance tests for rapeseed gel and inverse cereals
Resistance tests to water stress in corn (irrigated, non-irrigated) with tensiometric probes
Efficiency tests of the use of nitrogen or phosphorus in pastures and cereals

Disease testing in nurseries

Nursery trials enable our seed customers to test the resistance of their common wheat and barley strains.

Seed treatment performance

We are testing the effect of seed treatments on plant response (emergence, vigour, sanitary, insect control) under natural environments with or without artificial infestation/inoculation.

Sowing and Harvesting

Sowing and harvesting work is carried out everywhere in Europe through varietal tests and phytosanitary tests. Thanks to innovative high-quality equipment, seeding machines and precision harvesters, our teams generate more than 200,000 microplots every year.
