Sustainable formulation design: meeting regulatory and efficacy demands

Over the past couple of years, the industry has faced the banning of certain co-formulants that can no longer be included in plant protection products. In parallel, there is a desire to develop formulations containing only biological compounds to make the most of biological active ingredients that may be unstable or ineffective due to their nature. Overall, choosing the right coformulants for plant protection or nutrition products has never been more crucial.

Designing a sustainable formulation requires careful consideration. We are looking for an efficient product whose compounds do not cause toxicological or ecotoxicological issues and do not drift away from the expected risk. All of this must be achieved at an affordable cost, of course.

In regards to all these concerns, Staphyt has built a collaboration partnership with Stepan Advanced Formulation Service.

– Stepan can identify relevant coformulants and design the formulation.

– Staphyt regulatory department can check the sustainability of the chosen compounds in light of the risk assessment.

– Staphyt Lab in Martillac, France and all the Staphyt field stations can test the technological value of the formulation, respectively under controlled and real conditions.

– Staphyt Lab in Valence, France can ensure that the analytical methods can be set up to retrieve the compound and the substance in this new matrix without problems.

Thanks to a close link between teams, any results can be shared and analyzed at the light of all the relevant expertise for the best follow-up.
