GB adoption of the 2023 EFSA guidance on bird and mammal risk assessment

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has formally announced its decision to adopt the 2023 EFSA guidance concerning the assessment of pesticide risks to birds and mammals for use in Great Britain.

The updated guidance supersedes the 2009 EFSA guidance and will become compulsory for new GB assessments on 17 February 2027; however, applicants may begin using it voluntarily from 17 August  2026.

This brings GB Regulation nearer to those of the EU, making it a little more consistent to comply across borders, at the same time providing specific national clarifications to meet local regulatory requirements.
