Plant Protection
1- Updates in the CTGB evaluation manual for the authorisation of plant protection products according to Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009
The Chapter 2, Physical-chemical properties and analytical methods of the evaluation manual has been updated in August 2026. A note has been added to align this chapter with the effects of Regulation (EU) 2024/1487 defining the requirements for approval of safeners and synergists. The chapter has also been updated to adapt the evaluation due to the addition of new banned coformulants in Annex III of Regulation 1107/20029.

2- CIPAC updates
Following the 70th CIPAC meeting held last June, decisions taken with regard to CIPAC methods are available online including a new version of standard test method CIPAC MT 36.4 for Emulsion stability and re-emulsification of PPP and some analytical methods for specific pesticides active substances. Some presentations and posters from that meeting are also available on the website.
3- Mapping of Codex food classification with EU food codes established under Regulation (EC) No 396/2005
The coding systems used to describe food commodities at Codex level and in the EU legislation are not directly compatible. EFSA developed a mapping table which gives the links between the Codex Food codes relevant for food commodities and the EU food codes established in Annex I of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005. This mapping table will support the scientific assessment and facilitate a consistent and transparent implementation of Codex MRLs in the EU. It could be also useful to applicants where occurrence data is available according to both classification systems and needs to be combined/compared, for example in import tolerance applications or non-EU dossiers.
