Important: EU Drinking Water Directive renewals, deadline approaching!

Is your product in contact with drinking water in the EU? The revised EU Drinking Water Directive (DWD) has deadlines that threaten market access.
Articles 11 and 12 of the recast DWD regulate all materials, reagents, or filtering media that come into contact with drinking water across the EU and EEA.

The most urgent challenge? ECHA’s EU Positive List (EUPL) under Article 11 currently lists 2,042 approved substances, but nearly 30% (603 substances) will expire unless renewed before the end of 2028.

Failing to renew means a ban on their use in any drinking water systems. To secure transitional sales rights post-2028, submitting your dossier by June 2027 is critical.

At Staphyt, our team is already ahead of the game, offering comprehensive support for both Article 11 (materials) and Article 12 (reagents/filtering) submissions.

Our “Are you concerned?” service includes:

🔹 A free initial EUPL search for substances and their renewal dates.
🔹 Management of notifier working groups (substances/substance families).
🔹 Initial evaluation of migrating species (impurities, degradation products, NIAS).
🔹 Establishment of worst-case scenarios and dossier feasibility for migrating species.
🔹 High-quality migration tests to identify data requirements for EUPL renewal.

Full Dossier Submission Support: Phys-chem and toxicity studies, full risk assessments, study monitoring, and project management – we handle the entire renewal dossier creation and submission process.

With decades of experience in chemical regulations and the backing of top commercial testing laboratories, we offer you peace of mind and the best chance of EU DWD compliance.
